10 accessories to help you work out at home

Working out at home is a good option for anyone who wants to exercise more. Online training programs are becoming more and more popular so you’re sure to find the one that suits you. Here are 10 accessories to make working out at home more fun and to help you stay motivated!

1. A water bottle

Let’s start with the basics! You need to stay hydrated when you work out, whether outdoors or in your home. That’s why it’s a good idea to keep a water bottle near you. Tip: pick a brightly coloured bottle so it will draw your attention during your workout session and serve as a reminder to drink.

2. The right shoes

The right shoes make all the difference! Depending on the type of training program you’re following, you’ll need adapted footwear. If you’re unsure, speak with an expert who can help you avoid injuries!

3. An exercise mat

An exercise mat is practical for weightlifting, Pilates, yoga, or simply to stretch out after your workout session. You’ll quickly realize you’re much more comfortable on a shock-absorbing surface than directly on your floor. Make sure the mat is long enough so you can easily stretch out on it and that it’s wider than your shoulders.

4. Dumbbells

Dumbbells are a versatile accessory because they’re easy to handle. They’re also frequently used in a variety of workout programs and can increase the level of difficulty of your workout when you’re ready to take things up a notch.

5. Resistance bands

A resistance band is perfect for both novices and experts. Choose the one that suits your training program and it will be a useful tool throughout your entire journey to fitness.

6. And exercise ball

An exercise ball can help you strengthen your abs and it’s an accessory you can use in your everyday life. For instance, you can sit on an exercise ball instead of a chair for a few hours. That way you’ll be stretching and strengthening your muscles while you go about your day-to-day activities.

7. An aerobics step platform

Love “step” classes? This energizing workout is good for your muscle tone and can easily be done in the comfort of your home. In some cases, you can even use a step on a staircase instead of a step platform.

8. A foam roller

Never underestimate the importance of stretching after a workout. A foam roller can be used to massage and relax the muscles that were taxed during your workout session.

9. A jump rope

A jump rope is especially useful for a quick, intense workout session and can allow you to improve your cardiovascular health. An easy, heart-pumping way to go back to your childhood!
