BRAIN-AF Study Receives Canadian Institutes of Health Research Grant

The Montreal Heart Institute announces that the BRAIN-AF study has received a $1.4 million grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research. Seeking to better understand the effects of cardiovascular disease on the cognitive decline of the brain, the study will be able to recruit participants remotely thanks to this funding.

$281,205 raised for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases

The Montreal Heart Institute Foundation, in collaboration with IGA, announces that the $2 Does the Heart Good fundraiser concluded with a total of $281,205 raised. This campaign was held as part of Heart Month, from February 4 to 24, in nearly 300 IGA supermarkets in Quebec and New Brunswick.

The Montreal Heart Institute Foundation is proud to announce a donation of $50,000 from Canadian Pacific as part of its "CP Has Heart" campaign to acquire a DNA sequencer. This state-of-the-art device will, among other things, optimize the treatment of patients with COVID-19.

Supporting people with type 2 diabetes throughout the pandemic

When the pandemic forced gyms to close, it caused some disruption to the plans that had been developed for patients by the team at the Montreal Heart Institute’s Diabetes Prevention Clinic sponsored by Sun Life. As people with type 2 diabetes are more vulnerable when it comes to COVID-19, it was important they remained safe at home. Fortunately, when public health restrictions were implemented, telehealth was there to make remote monitoring possible.
