Facebook users can now raise funds for charitable organizations such as the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation. This increasingly popular way of donating is a way to support the Montreal Heart Institute’s most promising projects.

Will I receive a tax receipt for my donation?

Funds raised are processed by PayPal Giving Fund Canada which will send tax receipts to the email address associated with the donor’s Facebook profile. However, keep in mind that funds raised on Facebook may take up to 45 days to reach us.

Does the Foundation receive the entire amount?

Fundraisers for charitable organizations (such as the Foundation)

Because funds raised support the organization, Facebook commits to giving the total amount of the donation to the Foundation.

Fundraisers for personal causes

Fees may vary depending on the country of residence of the creator of the fundraiser for a personal cause. In Canada, this fee is set at 2.6% + $0.30 per donation.

Can the Foundation see who has supported my fundraiser?

It is currently not possible for organizations to see who donates or even who organizes fundraisers on their behalf on Facebook.

Please get in touch with us if you want to let us know you are organizing a fundraiser to support our cause.

Do you encourage people to donate via Facebook fundraisers?

Facebook fundraisers are an excellent way of showing your network that you support our cause and encouraging others to donate. However, because the names of organizers and donors remain anonymous, we cannot support you in your endeavour nor can we thank anyone who has contributed to your fundraiser.

As an alternative to Facebook, you can raise funds for the Montreal Heart Institute through our Active-toi avec cœur platform.
