The 8th edition of the HeartBeat event, presented by TELUS Health to benefit the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation (MHIF), was held yesterday at the Locoshop Angus. Gathering close to 400 young and engaged professionals from various fields of the Montreal business community, the fundraising event raised $139,000 for cardiovascular health.
Organized by the Foundation’s emerging leaders committee, Les Ambitieux, this springtime edition celebrated the magic of firsts: the first terrace party of the season, the first festive gathering of colleagues and friends, but also the first medical procedures performed at the Institute thanks to the Foundation’s generous donors.
United to Protect Sensitive Hearts
Cardiovascular diseases affect all age groups. In Quebec, approximately 60,000 people are believed to live with congenital heart disease, a structural heart problem that is present at birth[i]. Young people are becoming more aware of the importance of cardiovascular health. They want to get involved to make possible major discoveries that are changing the lives of thousands of people affected by cardiovascular diseases.
The Future of Philanthropy
The MHIF’s emerging leaders committee brings together fifteen young professionals who wish to raise awareness in their communities about cardiovascular disease issues: Charles-Olivier Belzile, Ariane Bissonnette, Janie Brunelle, Marc-André Dion, Adriana Embiricos, Sébastien Fontaine, Patrick Fouquette, Adrihel Gagnon, Arthur Gignac, Justine Hamelin, Jean-Philippe Joyal, Jasmin Labrie, Marie-Gabrielle Lessard, Marie-Laurence Migneault and Clarissa Nolasco.
Essential Partners
The Montreal Heart Institute Foundation would like to thank its valued partners who contributed to the success of HeartBeat: TELUS Health, Wines of Portugal, Bikini Village, Gamma Canada, Bio-K Plus International, Box-Experiences, PEAK Financial Group, Air Canada Foundation, Brasseries Beta and FlorDeco.
