Preventing the complications of diabetes

Diabetes is a common disease and a major risk factor for heart disease. Our webinar is open to the public. Attendees will learn how important it is for patients to manage their diabetes as well as what habits to adopt to treat diabetes and prevent complications.

Director of the Montreal Heart Institute’s (MHI) Research Centre, Scientific Director of the Montreal Health Innovations Coordinating Centre (MHICC), Professor of Medicine at Université de Montréal, and holder of the Canada Research Chair in Personalized Medicine

Dr. Jean-Claude Tardif was and is the principal investigator of major international studies on atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. Moreover, his COLCOT study demonstrated that colchicine, an inexpensive drug, reduces the risks of cardiovascular events. His work contributed to Health Canada approving colchicine to prevent cardiovascular events.

Dr. Tardif has authored more than 700 scientific articles over his career. He is the holder of the Canada Research Chair in Personalized Medicine and the Université de Montréal endowed research chair in atherosclerosis. He has received numerous awards such as the Armand-Frappier Award from the Government of Québec, the highest scientific honour. Dr. Tardif was also inducted into the Order of Canada, the highest distinction in the country.
