Call for projects for the Dr. Denis Roy Awards for Excellence

A new component of the annual awards that aims to provide tangible support to projects that promote excellence, foster collaboration, and make the patient journey more efficient.

Context and goal

As part of the 6th edition of the Dr. Denis Roy Awards for Excellence, a call for projects has been issued to support innovative initiatives led by the MHI’s nurses and health care professionals.  

The goal is to drive excellence in care while making practices more efficient and optimizing the quality of services dispensed to heart disease patients. 

Projects selected will receive up to $15,000 in funding as well as support for their implementation.

Terms and conditions

The following conditions apply:

  • Projects can be submitted by individuals or teams.
  • The project must be led by a nurse, professional, or team at the MHI.
  • The submission form including a detailed description of the project, its goal, its methodology, the estimated budget, and the expected benefits must be submitted by September 15, 2025.

Priority themes

You project must be aligned with at least one of the following priorities:

  • Improving clinical and organizational practices in cardiovascular medicine.
  • Leveraging innovative technologies for the purposes of monitoring patients, diagnosing diseases, or delivering care.
  • Developing training activities or educational tools for clients and health care teams.
  • Developing innovative practices for supporting and onboarding the next generation of health care professionals.
  • Optimizing the patient journey and reducing wait times.
  • Promoting prevention, empowerment, and self-care in patients.

Evaluation criteria

Submissions will be assessed with the following criteria: 

  • The project's innovative potential and novelty.
  • Impact on the quality and efficiency of cardiovascular care.
  • The feasibility and durability of the project within a clinical context.
  • Alignment with identified client and team needs.
  • Evaluation methods and outcome.
  • The deployment budget.
