July 2020 saw the passing of Dr. Martial G. Bourassa. Officer of the Order of Canada and Knight of the National Order of Quebec, Dr. Bourassa is recognized as a cardiology pioneer in Quebec. To honour his legacy in the field of cardiology, the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation established the Martial G. Bourassa Cardiovascular Medicine Innovation Fund.

Samantha Robinson: turning hardship into hope

Samantha was born with aortic stenosis, a heart defect that occurs when the valve that allows blood to flow from the left ventricle to the aorta and the rest of the body is too narrow. At only 13 months old, Samantha underwent a procedure called a heart catheterization by balloon valvuloplasty, a very complex procedure that dilates the valve with a balloon at the tip of a catheter.

A donation that is a tribute to Jacques Gendreau’s life
