The garden is located at the entrance of the MHI. It symbolizes the long-lasting impact of a bequest, a profoundly compassionate gesture that fosters excellence in research and cardiovascular care for generations to come.
The following inscription welcomes visitors: Jardin des Visionnaires. Inside, they will find a space honouring the vital contributions of individuals who chose to include the Foundation in their will in order to support the research and care of tomorrow.
Donors, families, and members of the MHI and its Foundation gathered for the official inauguration. It was a moment of gratitude and remembrance.
The event also featured the screening of a video on women’s cardiovascular health. Dr. Claudine Gauthier is a researcher at the MHI who spoke about the importance of better understanding women’s hearts and supporting a more personalized approach to research. Her words were both inspiring and touching.
Finally, a tribute was paid to Louis Tanguay whose dedication and vision had a major impact on the Foundation. His story is a reminder that generosity is a privilege and that we need to give back when life gives us the means to do so.
There are many reasons. The desire to leave a mark, to pay it forward, to express their gratitude, to have a long-lasting impact, or simply the need to make the world a better place.
Planned donations allow you to make a significant contribution to a cause that you care about but without affecting your current financial stability. It’s often hard to predict what your needs will be as you age. When donors add a bequest in their will, they retain full control over their assets while they are alive. Moreover, it enables their succession to mitigate the tax impacts that apply at the time of death. By making a bequest, the donor also ensures they perpetuate the values they hold dear and leave a meaningful legacy for loved ones and future generations.
Long-term financing is essential to the Montreal Heart Institute’s mission of education, research, and care. Planned donations, which are often significant amounts, have a major impact on the MHI. These gifts enable research teams, medical experts, and health care professionals to pursue their work to the benefit of patients, both today and tomorrow.
Thanks to planned donations and bequests, the Foundation can provide long-term support to projects that transform cardiovascular medicine. Projects that focus on innovation, research, prevention, and personalized medicine.
The Jardin des Visionnaires garden is intended to be a space for contemplation, gratitude, and inspiration. It also serves as a reminder that generosity always leaves an indelible mark and helps life flourish.
